ÄIO ingredients receive Vegan certification
At ÄIO, we believe the future of cosmetic ingredients should combine performance, sustainability, and responsible innovation.
We are happy to share a milestone in our journey: our three fermentation-derived cosmetic ingredients: RedOil, ZymaLipid Complex and Encapsulated oil, have received certification under The Vegan Society’s Vegan Trademark.
For many consumers, vegan certification may look like a simple symbol on a product. For ingredient developers, formulators, brands, and manufacturers, it means something much bigger. It represents trust, transparency, and independent validation.

What is Vegan certification?
The Vegan Trademark, managed by The Vegan Society, is one of the most recognised vegan certification systems in the world.
The Vegan Society itself has a long history. Founded in the United Kingdom in 1944, it was the organisation that introduced and defined the term vegan. In 1990, it launched the Vegan Trademark to help businesses clearly demonstrate that products meet recognised vegan standards. Today, the trademark appears on more than 70 000 certified products globally, including cosmetics, food, household products, and fashion. It is a globally trusted third-party validation system.
To receive certification, products and ingredients must meet clear requirements:
- no animal-derived ingredients
- no animal by-products
- no animal testing by the company or on its behalf
- traceable supply chains
- measures to minimise cross-contamination risk where relevant
Why this matters for ÄIO
For ÄIO, Vegan certification is a natural extension of how our ingredients are already designed. Our ingredients are produced through fermentation, using proprietary microorganisms to transform side-streams into high-performance lipids and active ingredients. No animal-derived feedstocks. No dependency on animal fats. No conventional animal-based sourcing.
Receiving certification confirms externally what has been true in our technology approach from the beginning. But perhaps more importantly, it makes this visible and credible to the wider market. As sustainable beauty continues to evolve, brands increasingly need clear, trusted claims that are easy to communicate and easy to validate. Third-party certification matters.

What this means for our partners
For formulators, brands, distributors, and manufacturers, Vegan certification creates practical value.
It helps reduce uncertainty during ingredient selection, tt simplifies conversations with retailers and consumers, it strengthens product positioning in fast-growing ethical beauty categories and it provides an internationally recognised trust marker that supports both innovation and market acceptance.
For distributors, certification makes ingredient storytelling easier, for formulators, it supports faster decision-making, for brands, it adds confidence in product claims, for investors, it signals stronger market fit and alignment with global beauty trends.
A signal about the future
This milestone is also bigger than certification itself. It reflects a broader shift in how ingredients are being developed. Beauty consumers increasingly expect products that are not only effective, but also transparent, ethical, and aligned with modern sustainability values. At the same time, biotechnology is making it possible to rethink how ingredients are produced from the ground up.
For ÄIO, Vegan certification reinforces a simple idea: the future of cosmetic ingredients can be sustainable, traceable, high-performing and animal-free by design. Another step forward.
