Meet ÄIO across Europe this autumn

London → Amsterdam → Munich → Oslo → Wuppertal → Helsinki.

ÄIO team, Co-founder and CEO, Dr. Nemailla Bonturi, Co-founder and CTO, Professor Petri-Jaan Lahtvee and CFO/CPO Martin Mets will be joining some of Europe’s most relevant gatherings for investment, food technology, industrial biotechnology, climate tech and the bioeconomy.  Over the past few years, ÄIO has moved from laboratory research to industrial-scale fermentation, proving production at big scale. Our fermentation platform turns low-value industrial side streams into high-value fats and oils for food, cosmetics and other industries. Our three cosmetic ingredients are commercially available, our distribution network covers the world, the first commercial products with cosmetics brands are out, food applications are advancing, and the next stage is about scaling production and bringing more of this technology to market.

With our Series A ahead, we are looking forward to meeting investors and partners who share our ambition to take biotechnology from commercial validation to industrial scale. That gives us plenty to talk about this autumn. Come and meet our team. We are happy to share our latest milestones, future plans and where ÄIO is heading next.

Future Food-Tech London| 24–25 September | London, UK

Future Food-Tech brings together more than 500 leaders from global food brands, ingredient companies, start-ups and investment funds to discuss what will shape the next generation of food. This year’s programme goes directly into questions that matter to ÄIO: alternative raw materials, fermentation, food-tech scale-up, regulation, resilient supply chains and how the next generation of food innovation will be financed. For ÄIO, these conversations are particularly relevant as we develop fermentation-derived fats and oils for food applications. Fat is fundamental to texture, creaminess, stability and mouthfeel, and we believe the food industry needs new ways of producing it that do not depend solely on increasing agricultural production.

London is an opportunity to meet the food companies, ingredient partners and investors thinking about what actually needs to scale next.

ICOS Collaborative Innovation Summit |28 September | Amsterdam, the Netherlands

The ICOS Collaborative Innovation Summit brings together industrial innovators, corporates, technology companies and investors around technologies with the potential to transform established industries. The 2026 programme includes fermentation and bio-based chemicals, performance materials, industrial technology and the commercialisation of bio-based production. That makes Amsterdam a natural place for ÄIO to be. We are working on exactly the transition the summit is exploring: taking fermentation from promising biotechnology to scalable industrial production – while improving cost, quality and resilience.

Bits & Pretzels |29 September | Munich, Germany

Bits & Pretzels is one of Europe’s major founder and investor gatherings. The event brings 7,500 founders, investors and industry leaders to Munich and puts a particularly strong emphasis on building relationships: the organisers expect around 21,000 founder-investor meetings. As we move from technology development towards larger-scale commercialisation, connecting with people who understand what it takes to build and finance ambitious European deeptech companies is increasingly important.

Tech Tour Food & Bioeconomy |7–8 October |Ås, Oslo region, Norway

Tech Tour Food & Bioeconomy is built around investment and innovation in food and the bioeconomy, bringing selected companies together with active venture capital and corporate investors. Its technology tracks include ingredients, circular solutions, agriculture, biodiversity and new food technologies, several areas closely connected to ÄIO’s fermentation platform. For us, this is an opportunity to discuss a fundamental question: can we produce some of the fats and oils the world already needs in a completely different way?

The Startuplab Summit |20 October | Oslo, Norway

The Startuplab Summit is one of the New Nordics’ leading climate and energy technology startup gatherings, bringing together Nordic and Baltic technology companies, international investors, corporates and public-sector decision-makers. For ÄIO, climate technology is also about how we manufacture everyday materials and ingredients. Fats and oils are used across enormous global industries, yet conventional production remains closely tied to agricultural land, water, climate and complex supply chains. Biomanufacturing offers another route.

We look forward to discussing how industrial biotechnology can contribute to a more resource-efficient and resilient manufacturing economy, and what it takes to scale those technologies into globally relevant businesses.

Tech Tour Bio-based Industries |12–13 November | Wuppertal, Germany

Tech Tour Bio-based Industries event matches ÄIO’s technology as directly as possible. Its focus areas include industrial biotechnology and bioproduction, fermentation, functional ingredients, bio-based chemicals, side-stream valorisation and biomanufacturing. The event takes place within the Circular Valley Forum, bringing the investment and technology community together with major industrial companies and decision-makers. For ÄIO, this is where several parts of our story meet: fermentation, circular feedstocks, functional ingredients and industrial scale-up.

Slush 2026 |18–19 November | Helsinki, Finland

With more than 12,000 attendees and one of the world’s largest concentrations of venture capital, Slush is built around founder-investor conversations. The organisers expect more than 25,000 meetings during the event. At ÄIO, we have science built over years of research. We have moved from laboratory fermentation to industrial-scale production. We have commercially available ingredients, products already reaching consumers, international partners and a technology designed for markets that already consume enormous volumes of fats and oils. Now the question is how quickly we can take the next step.

Let’s meet! If you are attending Future Food-Tech London, the ICOS Collaborative Innovation Summit, Bits & Pretzels, Tech Tour Food & Bioeconomy, the Startuplab Summit, Tech Tour Bio-based Industries or Slush, our team would be happy to meet you to talk about fermentation, fats and oils, industrial biotechnology, commercialisation, scaling, and where ÄIO is going next.
